With over 20 years in the automotive industry, Charles is committed to achieving zero emissions and sustainable mobility.
He joined Faurecia in 2011, since then taking on different engineering and leadership roles. Before assuming his current role, Shappell served as Low Emissions Innovations Manager in Faurecia’s Clean Mobility site in Bavans, France.
As Director of Zero Emissions Engineering, Shappell leads Faurecia’s zero emissions engineering activities in North America. He continues to be a leading figure in Faurecia’s zero emissions journey and supports all acceleration activities to become a fuel cell system leader in North America.
He holds Engineering and Management degrees from ITT Technical Institute and Indiana Wesleyan University.
Charles is also an active representative in associations such as the California Fuel Cell Partnership, and Fuel Cell & Hydrogen Energy Association, and a key contributor to forming Michigan’s hydrogen roadmap strategy.
